Territory Talk & Indigenous Inclusion in Performance Art

Artists:
Scarlett Hummingbird

Dates:
Saturday, August 29, 2020,
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Are you wondering why so many events start with a territory acknowledgement, who should be doing them, or what they even mean? In this workshop, Scarlett Hummingbird offers her lived experiences and cultural & professional knowledge to teach the basics and history of territory acknowledgements and welcoming ceremonies in Coast Salish territories and what they entail, as well as discusses tokenization vs meaningful inclusion of Indigenous artists and professionals. This workshop focuses on both performing arts events and an in-depth resource document providing history, context, and terminology will be shared with all participants during the workshop and provided digitally afterwards.

To register for this event, email office@openspace.ca by the end of the day Friday, August 28.

This talk is part of the Vogue series.
