Open Space 2020 Annual General Meeting

Thank you for joining us for another year at Open Space. We are happy to invite you to the upcoming Open Space Annual General Meeting on Saturday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m.
 
As you might expect, this year’s AGM will be a bit different than usual. In response to current social distancing measures due to COVID-19, we will be hosting the 2020 AGM through the online video conferencing platform Zoom. Although we are unable to gather in person this year, we hope you will join us online.
 
We are thankful that for some of you this will make the experience more accessible than ever. We also acknowledge that for others, asking you to use this technology will create new barriers. If the use of Zoom in any way feels daunting or difficult, please reach out to our Administrator Paolino Caputo at office[at]openspace.ca and we will work to find solutions with you.
 
Furthermore, in the spirit of the ongoing work to address barriers to access, we are happy to announce that Open Space will be immediately transitioning to a zero dollar membership model. This means that you will still have to renew your membership on an annual basis by filling out a registration form, but you will no longer be required to pay membership dues. We hope that this change will reduce financial barriers to participate in the Open Space community.
 
Learn more about this new membership model and how we envision a more relational and reciprocal kind of membership. This is also a reminder to renew your membership if it has lapsed—please note, you must have an active membership in order to vote at the AGM.
 
 There are now two ways to renew your membership!

If you are in a financially secure position and were planning on paying the $30 membership dues to renew your membership this year, we ask that you consider donating to Open Space. As always, we are happy to provide a charitable receipt for your donation. Learn about how to donate.
 
As an active Member of Open Space, the AGM is one of the many ways you can involve yourself in the community. You have voting privileges on all resolutions and may nominate other Members to the Board of Directors. If you are aware of community members who can bring skills and energy to the Open Space Board, please send your nominations by end-of-day, August 17th.
 
Look forward to another reminder in the next month, which will include more information on accessing the AGM through Zoom, as well as any board nominations and special resolutions to be included in the business of the AGM.
